Off to the start of another great week with one goal in mind: saying no to stress.
That’s right. I’m talking about tuning it out and not letting the big Stress Monster take over your mood, relationships and life this week.
We’ve all been in situations where we don’t know how things are going to turn out, chaos ensues and all hell breaks loose. The following weeks are filled with sleepless nights, extra doses of coffee and higher anxiety levels all because of one situation that likely got blown out of proportion. Sound familiar?
A recent situation reminded me that when you stress, worry, or cause yourself anxiety, one of two things will happen: either the situation pans out the way you want it to, or it doesn’t. Either way, life will go on. At the end of the day, that’s a powerful way to remind ourselves that we only have so much control in life. We have to accept what does or does not go the way we plan, and in the meantime, not spend so much time worrying or wondering what the outcome will look like.
Maybe at first it will feel a bit strange to let go and release yourself of “stress obligation.” Start by thinking of one thing your to do list this week and approaching it with the mindset that regardless of the outcome, you will not lose sleep over it. If you catch yourself beginning to worry, take a few minutes to meditate and reset your intentions.
