Always looking for new grab-n-go snacks free of added sugars and nonsense ingredients, I recently stumbled across Livin’ Spoonful gluten free crackers while browsing the aisles of my local market. In San Francisco, corner stores often stock hard to find goodies that while overpriced compared to typical market prices, are usually really tasty. I eagerly purchased a package of the sourdough Livin’ Spoonful gluten free crackers for an upcoming (at the time) trip to Austin. The perfect size to toss in my bag before boarding the plane, the crackers sustained me during and throughout the trip anytime I needed a quick and filling snack. (Check out my travel tips post for more insight into easy ways to prep for a long trip.)
Pleased with the tangy, savory flavor of the cracker, I reached out to the lovely folks at Livin’ Spoonful for some samples to try and share with you all. To my surprise, they sent all 10 flavors from their shop, including a mix of sweet and savory to satisfy my snack cravings. While I’m still nomming my way through the bags, I have tried enough of the product to know that it’s one I enjoy, endorse, and recommend. My favorite flavors include the Chocolate Snaps, Ginger Snaps, and Pizza Crackers. Sarah and Jason at the Everyday Paleo Podcast recently mentioned the Pizza Crackers in their episode about Paleof(x), noting that they “taste like college” — they’re THAT good!
While the “sprouted” taste did take some getting used to — it’s not a taste I’m previously familiar with — I liked the extra boldness to the flavor, and the fact that I only need to eat a handful to feel satisfied (versus scarfing down an entire bag of Glutino’s pretzels which let’s be honest, is not that hard to do).
Ingredients include wholesome, natural, gluten free and Paleo-friendly raw products such as sunflower seeds, dates, carrots, almonds, raisins, veggies and pumpkin seeds — you get the idea. All of the good stuff and none of the nasty sugar-laden, how-do-I-pronounce-this, list of garbage that fills many snack products. I love the new bite-sized pieces and gorgeous packaging and will highly recommend the product to anyone looking for a quick snack, addition to a salad, or crumbled into a bowl of your favorite milk for a yummy breakfast. Visit the company’s Facebook page and check out the products on the online shop to stock up on the tasty flavors, and enter our product giveaway by subscribing to the Whole Health Hacks newsletter in the meantime.
